HEALTH
A revolutionary paradigm of health and wholeness has emerged in this awakening. The western allopathic model is being abandoned. Healing can no longer be viewed as an attempt to combat disease, disease by disease, on a fragmented basis.Health is wholeness. Health, spiritual growth, and enlightenment are identical. Health is synonymous with a life lived in joy, peace, and love in harmony with one's self, one's fellows, and one's physical environment. Wholeness is the natural state of the universe and the laws that govern its functioning. Health is being in harmony with all the laws of nature. Wholeness is the integration and unity of spirit, mind, and body functioning in complete harmony with one another, their environment, and all the laws of nature. Imbalance within any aspect of this unity causes ill health. Disease is an anomaly. Health is the natural state of the human being.
The first principle of this new paradigm is that all healing must consider the unity of spirit, mind, and body. The spiritual level is the most powerful level of the three. Therefore spiritual health is the starting point. If one is confused or troubled on that level, the mind and body are bound to suffer. Imbalance can be restored through the body and mind, but such restorations are more difficult and less permanent without the proper spiritual foundation. Every cell in the body has its own intelligence that allows it to function properly as a member of the whole. When that intelligence is disrupted at any level: spiritual, mental, or physical, that intelligence becomes confused and the natural state of health gives way to dis-ease.
Second since health is our natural state, prevention of imbalance is crucial. Health practices have to be considered as a whole. Spiritual practices cannot have maximum benefit without involving the mind and the body. We need proper diet, exercise, rest, and relaxation as well as those practices devoted directly to allowing us to better contact the deeper levels of our being . We need to engage in life supporting endeavors. We need to cultivate a habit of positive thinking, and when negative thought arises, we should quickly dismiss them, and turn our attention elsewhere. We need to live in a healthy environment. The environmental component is vital, and one that is unacceptable in our modern world.
Ill health can be restored through physical means, but those means must always accompany a holistic program that attends the spiritual and mental well being. If medications and dietary supplements are used, they should be natural so that the natural intelligence of life will be infused with minimum deleterious side effects.
The third principle is that each one of us is our primary care physician. We are ultimately responsible for our health. The physician can only be a facilitator, a guide, and an inspiration. We are the healers. Our health is ours. It is a gift not to be taken lightly.
